Fiji Wood
Anyone interested in planting trees, big leaf mahogany for reforestation or as an investment?

Big Leaf mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) tree is scared and in need of reforestation in order to conserve the species and to have the timber available for future use. The wood of this tree (red brown) is very exotic, rare, valuable and sustainable. Planting these trees add value to your property and increase your wealth. It is a long term investment from 20 to 40 years. So far, there is a plantation of mahogany operation located in Fiji and the natural supply of mahogany trees in the forest is scarce.

I grew S. macrophylla and S. mahagoni at my nursery in the Virgin Islands. mahagoni S. was the demand for reforestation and landscaping, but there was no commercial market for S. macrophylla. Check any number of commercial forestry operations and you'll see what I mean. "Plantfinder" for example, lists more than 200 producers and zero mahagoni macrophylla. Why buck the trend? Besides, I think the tree is mahagoni higher.
