What is more important in the face … a solid block or ablility to cope with a second ball?
I'm most likely going to move to a 5-1 (from a 6-2) volleyball next season and try to understand what forces I should look in a face rank. I feel I can find the right balance in the opposite direction back row, but this is the most important tracts in the first row? Please let me know if you have played the position before or if you've played with the opposition well or if you coach or anything else that qualifies you to answer this question. I coach a high school team for 4 years with a club team, I've also played for about 7 years. I can tell you from personal experience that the most important thing for a face is a strong block. The opposite is cons (in most cases) the best batting the other team, you need someone there is an air of defiance that can either get a block or make the shot a little easier to get to the row bottom. Any good setter will be able to move the ball, and if not, you must have faith in your team or set the ball or ball to Nice at the bottom. Without the block a good hitter and choose their spots dominate the party.
